Former fashion magazine editor Nathalie Croquet wanted to take on a different role in the industry, so she stepped in front of the camera to parody high-fashion ads.
“I don’t really see myself” when looking at the photos, Croquet told BuzzFeed News. “You know, like how you don’t recognize your voice in a telephone message.”
She targeted French designers like Sonia Rykiel, Givenchy, and Paule Ka.
The images are impressively spot-on.
Croquet isn’t trying to communicate one overarching message through her work. Instead, she said she wants each viewer to reach an independent conclusion.
“Women, consumption, retouching, cosmetics, aging, beauty, those all come to mind, but truly those issues are up for debate,” she said.
Croquet is now shooting a second round of the copycat images.
“I feel people need a more spiritual approach to life, and good fun,” she said. “I’m happy to give them that, even if I’m just making fun of myself.”
